Saudia Cargo to join SkyTeam Cargo alliance

Global airline freight collaboration welcomes 12th partner, extending its network to 900 destinations in 175 countries.

SkyTeam Cargo, the world’s only significant airline cargo alliance, has announced today that Saudia Airlines Cargo Company will become its 12th member, effective 15 April 2019.

The development will see SkyTeam Cargo significantly increase its footprint across the Middle East, while Saudia Cargo and its customers will now benefit from an extended global network covering over 900 destinations in more than 175 countries.

Commenting on the new partnership, Nico van der Linden, vice president of SkyTeam Cargo, said: “Our current members, and in turn their customers, will benefit from an expanded network across the Middle East.

Omar Hariri, CEO of Saudia Cargo, commented: “Joining SkyTeam Cargo means our customers will benefit from an enhanced product offering and a comprehensive global network. In turn, we will support the wider alliance by extending its reach across the Middle East, Africa and Indian subcontinent via our hubs in Jeddah and Riyadh.’’

SkyTeam Cargo was established in September 2000 and has grown into the world’s leading global airline cargo alliance. Its current 11 members are Aeroflot Cargo, Aerolineas Argentinas Cargo, Aeromexico Cargo, Air France Cargo, Alitalia Cargo, China Airlines Cargo, China Cargo Airlines, Czech Airlines Cargo, Delta Cargo, KLM Cargo, and Korean Air Cargo.

Among the alignments between its members, which can include shared cargo handling and marketing, SkyTeam Cargo partners adopt four common products: Express, General, Specialized and Customized.

Saudia Cargo offers scheduled and charter services in a global network covering 225 international destinations and 26 domestic destinations in Asia, Europe, Africa, the Far East and North America. It offers belly cargo capacity to over 58 international destinations via the Saudia passenger fleet and operates a fleet of 10 freighter aircraft to 13 cargo destinations, in addition to an extensive trucking and interline network in Europe and America.
