Newly Built Flex Courageous Joins Flex LNG’s Fleet
The LNG carrier was handed over from South Korea’s Daewoo Shipbuilding & Marine Engineering on August 27.
Flex Courageous is the company’s sixth vessel on the water, with another five units set for delivery in 2020 and the remaining two in 2021. It is fitted with high pressure two stroke engine (MEGI) with a partial reliquifaction system (PRS) bringing the boil of rate to industry low of 0.0075%.
The 295-meter-long ship will now set course for its maiden voyage in the Pacific basin, according to its Oslo-listed owner.
Subsequent to this voyage, the 111,000 gross ton carrier would be available for new employment opportunities in the fourth quarter, Flex LNG said, adding it will be “well positioned for the winter market.”
In early June 2019, the company took delivery of its fifth LNG carrier, the 173,400 cbm carrier Flex Constellation, from DSME, three weeks ahead of schedule.
