Heathrow strike action suspended again

Union agrees to halt industrial action while the workforce votes on an improved pay offer.

UK air freight has been spared expected disruption again today after planned strike action at Heathrow was once again suspended while the airport’s unionised workforce votes on an improved pay offer.

In a note to customers, IAG Cargo said: We have been informed that the proposed strike action by Heathrow Airport (HAL) staff on Tuesday August 6 has been suspended. We would like to inform customers that we will operate as normal. Our contingency plans have minimised any impact these may have had and we apologise for any inconvenience caused.”

Airport workers’ union Unite said the strike had been suspended while the workforce votes on an improved pay offer. The union said it would not be revealing the details of the improved offer until its members involved in the ongoing pay dispute have had an opportunity to consider and vote on the new package.
However, Unite said that the strikes already announced for Friday 23 August and Saturday 24 August remained on the table until the result of the ballot was known.
