Flex LNG secures charter deals for 2 LNG carriers
Norwegian LNG carrier company Flex LNG has secured a pair of time-charter contracts with an undisclosed “energy major.”
LNG carriers Flex Courageous and Flex Resolute will go under charter deals for a minimum of three years each. Each will also have an option for up to four years of extension.
The ships will be delivered to the charterer during the first quarter of 2022. Both ships are large 173,400 cubic metres MEGI ships with either partial or full reliquification systems.
The company informs that, since April, it has thus secured long-term fixed hire employment for eight, possibly nine of its ships.
This is in line with the communicated strategy of securing an attractive revenue backlog once the market has improved.
“Our firm contract backlog is now about 33 years with a further 36 years of optional backlog. This highlights the attractiveness of owning and operating highly efficient ships with a significantly lower carbon footprint than the older generation ships,” said Oystein Kalleklev, CEO.
