Europe-Chile LCL service sees 35% increase in demand

Dachser said a predictable schedule amid a highly unpredictable marketplace has sparked demand that has surpassed its expectations, from customers such as mining and minerals leader Outotec.

Logistics firm Dachser’s Chile subsidiary said its weekly LCL service from Hamburg, Germany to San Antonio, Chile has seen a 35% increase in demand since launching in April, with the company likely to expand the service to accommodate the growing needs in the market.

Dachser Chile said its weekly LCL service, which offers a 30 to 32-day port-to-door transit time, has attracted companies seeking solutions to help plan, optimise and manage their supply chains amid “the challenges presented by the current ocean and air freight disruption”. It said the Hamburg-San Antonio LCL service was the latest addition to Dachser Americas’ LCL service portfolio.

“With the steadily increasing LCL cargo volumes from Europe to Chile, we were confident we could support our own consol box,” said Frank Habermann, managing director for Dachser Chile. “Dachser Chile’s ability to offer a predictable schedule in the midst of a highly unpredictable marketplace has sparked demand that has surpassed our expectations. Our customers asked for an efficient, cost-effective solution with a predictable schedule and Dachser Chile delivered.”

The firm said that “due to the current ocean transport disruption, more and more customers are turning to the reliability and convenience of the Dachser Chile LCL service to move cargo from Europe to Chile. One company benefitting from the LCL service is Outotec, a leading supplier within the mining industry, a sector that is critical to the Chilean market.”

It said the success of the recently launched LCL service required coordination between the Dachser management teams in Chile and Germany. For this consolidated maritime freight service, Dachser collects container shipments from several European countries and consolidates the freight at its warehouse in Hamburg, connecting Germany, Finland, Austria, Switzerland, Belgium, Denmark, Netherlands, Czech Republic, Poland and Slovakia to the Chilean market.

“By offering weekly LCL consolidation box service from Hamburg to Chile, Dachser is enabling customers to take greater control of their supply chain with flexible shipping choices that address their challenges,” added Habermann.
